Saudi Arabia and Morocco have signed an executive programme for cooperation on renewable energy, including enabling national companies to implement such projects in both countries.
The UAE is strengthening its global leadership in sustainable energy through strategic investments accelerating the clean energy transition, with installed renewable energy capacity now exceeding 7.7GW, said Suhail Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure.
Masdar, a clean energy leader, announced that its renewable energy portfolio capacity has reached 65 gigawatts (GW), up from 51GW in 2025, marking two decades since the UAE made the strategic decision to invest early in clean energy.
Egypt has signed renewable energy deals worth a combined $1.8 billion. Egypt hopes to have renewable energy reach 42 per cent of its electricity generation mix by 2030, but officials say the goal will be at risk without more international support.
Irena Director-General Francesco La Camera said renewables now dominate the global energy system and the transition is irreversible, highlighting record $2.4 trillion energy-transition investment, including $800 billion for production capacity, showing rapidly accelerating investment in renewables and related energy sources.
