Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (PWP) has invited bids for legal consultancy services for the development and competitive tendering of three solar power projects with a combined planned capacity of 3,000MW as the sultanate moves to expand its renewable energy capacity.

Each of the Solar 2030 independent power projects (IPPs) is planned to have a capacity of about 1,000 MW and is targeted to begin commercial operations in the second quarter of 2030. The projects will connect to Oman’s Main Interconnected System (MIS), said a statement from Omani procurement company

PWP said it is seeking proposals from qualified legal consultants to advise on project development and support the company through the competitive procurement process.

The projects form part of Oman’s efforts to diversify its power generation mix by increasing the share of clean and renewable energy.

The tender was launched yesterday (September 2) and documents are available for purchase until September 10. The deadline for submitting the bids has been set at October 18.

The Solar 2030 procurement program is aligned with Oman’s efforts to increase the contribution of renewable energy to the national electricity generation mix and support the development of a more diversified and sustainable power sector.

The three planned projects, with a combined capacity of 3 GW, are expected to contribute significantly to Oman’s future renewable power generation capacity and support the country’s long-term clean energy and electricity-sector development objectives, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
