Remat Al-Riyadh Development Company, the development arm of Riyadh Municipality, has signed a contract with International Modern Industries Company for the development and operation of the first phase of an alternative mobility network spanning about 22 km in the Saudi capital.
The network will run along Olaya Street and Prince Abdulaziz bin Musaed bin Jalawi Street and include about 1,000 electric scooters and e-bikes, said Remat Al Riyadh in a statenment.
The Saudi group said the project marks its first venture into the alternative mobility sector and is intended to establish a scalable operating model for expanding such services across the city.
The project will operate through designated parking locations and aims to regulate the use and parking of alternative mobility vehicles while providing additional options for short journeys and connecting users with Riyadh's wider public transport network.
The scope of work includes the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of the first phase of the network.
The partnership reflects Remat Al-Riyadh’s mandate to improve municipal services through greater private sector participation that ensure the long-term transformation of the city’s services with a focus on operational efficiency, sustainability, and quality of experience, it stated.
Designed as a scalable operating model for alternative mobility in Riyadh, the project is part of Remat Al-Riyadh’s work to develop a more integrated mobility ecosystem for the city.
By integrating parking management, alternative mobility solutions for short journeys, and electric vehicle infrastructure, the company aims to expand available mobility options and enhance the travel experience across the city, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
