Etihad Rail, the developer and operator of the UAE's national railway network, has announced plans to open the Madinat Zayed and Liwa passenger stations on November 30, one month ahead of schedule, aligning with the start of the events and festivals season in the Al Dhafra Region of Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafra Round-The-Clock project by Masdar that combines solar with a massive amount of battery capacity is a global blueprint for the continuous and reliable supply of renewable energy, said the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Ain Region, attended the opening ceremony of Liwa International Festival 2026, held under his patronage until January 3, 2026 in Liwa in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra Region.
The fourth Al Dhafra Dates Festival and Auction will occur from October 17 to 26, 2025, in Madinat Zayed, Abu Dhabi. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, it aims to promote date production, enhance quality, support food security, and facilitate knowledge exchange in palm cultivation.
