Germany's renewable energy capacity up 11pc in 2025

Germany stepped up the construction of solar panels and wind turbines last year, with installed renewable energy capacity rising by 11 per cent to around 210 gigawatts, the country’s energy regulator said. The Federal Network Agency said the pace of expansion was close to that of previous years, after capacity grew by about 12 percent in both 2023 and 2024.

Solar power covers 18pc of Germany's electricity consumption

Solar power in Germany generated significantly more electricity in 2025, with its share of domestic power production rising to around 18 per cent, up from 14 per cent in 2024, the German Solar Industry Association (BSW) said.

SOCAR begins supplying Azerbaijani gas to Austria, Germany

Azerbaijan’s state energy company SOCAR has reached a new milestone in gas exports by selling significant volumes of gas to Southern and Central Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), part of the Southern Gas Corridor. From January 2026, Azerbaijani gas will be supplied to buyers in Austria and Germany through Italy.

The Stadtwerke Bielefeld Group is promoting sustainable mobility by deploying 29 dual-fuel buses powered by hydrogen fuel cells and batteries. The buses will use locally produced hydrogen from a 1-megawatt IMI VIVO electrolyser at the Bielefeld Innovation Park.
