Qatar's Ministry of Transport (MoT) has announced that all maritime navigation activities can now resume normally for all types of maritime vessels and ships.

The directive is effective from the date of the announcement (July 5). It reverses ​a June 29 advisory ​that had urged the temporary suspension ⁠of sailing and fishing ​boats until further notice, though commercial ​shipping was exempted. That directive came a day after Qatar ​said one of its ​nationals ⁠had been killed after sustaining injuries from shrapnel due to "military ⁠operations ​in the region", ​following the disappearance of his vessel.

"The MOT urges everyone to abide by the maritime regulations & instructions in effect, to ensure highest levels of safety & security for all trips," said the latest directive posted on MoT's X account.

Earlier, reports said shipping between Iran’s Dayyer port and Qatar’s Al Ruwais ​port has resumed following coordination between ​the Iranian embassy in Doha and Qatari authorities, a Reuters report said quoting Iran’s commercial attaché ‌in Doha.

An interim deal between Tehran and Washington signed last ​month announced the end of hostilities ​after a four-month conflict and mandated ⁠a return to pre-war maritime traffic in ​the Gulf, although transit in and out ​of the Gulf remains contested.

The ‌two ⁠geographically opposite ports mainly cater to regional trade. Dayyer port was hit several times during the war. -TradeArabia News Service
