Acwa, the world’s largest private water desalination company, has appointed Dr. Samir J. Serhan as its new Chief Executive Officer. An industry veteran, he brings more than three decades of global leadership experience across large-scale industrial and infrastructure organisations to the new role.
Acwa signed Investment and PPA Key Terms with Türkiye’s Ministry of Energy and EÜAŞ to develop 5 GW of renewable energy, starting with 2 GW of solar at Sivas and Taşeli, with energy sales agreements in place.

Saudi utility giant Acwa has announced that its consortium with Water Transmission Company (WTCO) has been signed up by Syrian government to conduct preliminary studies for seawater desalination projects with a combined capacity of 1.2 million cu m per day along with related water transmission infrastructure.
Topsoe has been selected as ammonia technology licensor for ACWA’s Yanbu Green Hydrogen project in Saudi Arabia. Its technology will convert green hydrogen into ammonia and includes engineering, proprietary equipment, and catalysts for FEED contractors Sinopec and Técnicas Reunidas.
