The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) is advancing a range of plans and initiatives aimed at strengthening Bahrain’s tourism sector, attracting more visitors and expanding its position as a leading regional and international destination.
The plans were reviewed during the BTEA Board of Directors’
third regular meeting of 2026, chaired by Tourism Minister and BTEA Board
Chairwoman Fatima Al Sairafi, with BTEA Chief Executive Officer Sarah Buhiji in
attendance.
The board discussed priorities for the sector’s continued
development, including measures to enhance its resilience, sustain growth and
deepen partnerships with the private sector.
It also stressed the importance of developing high-quality
tourism projects and initiatives that support Bahrain’s wider economic
development objectives.
Marketing and promotional plans were also reviewed, with a
focus on strengthening Bahrain’s profile as a tourist destination, increasing
visitor numbers and supporting sustained sector growth.
The board also discussed the events calendar for the coming
period, covering a diverse programme of events and activities, while following
up on the latest developments in BTEA’s strategic projects.
A key focus was the continued development of Bahrain’s
Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism sector, with
plans aimed at further strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a regional hub
for business events.
The board also reviewed developments at Exhibition World
Bahrain, including ongoing efforts to attract and host major exhibitions,
conferences and events, supporting the Kingdom’s ambitions to expand its
business tourism offering.
The discussions followed a review of tourism sector performance indicators for the second quarter of 2026, providing an assessment of current performance and informing priorities for the sector’s next phase of growth. -TradeArabia News Service
