Radio Bahrain Company, a portfolio company of Mumtalakat, has appointed Ala Ghawas as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 5.
Ghawas brings extensive experience across the telecommunications, media, and creative sectors, having most recently held a senior leadership role at STC Bahrain. Alongside his corporate career, he is an independent artist and music entrepreneur with a substantial catalogue of original work and a track record of building communities around music, arts, and culture.
His appointment comes at a pivotal time as Radio Bahrain Company continues to evolve its strategic direction, expand its digital footprint, and strengthen its commercial and content offerings, a statement said.
Khaled Mattar, Chairman of the Board at Radio Bahrain Company, commented: “The Board is confident that Ala’s leadership, vision, and understanding of both the media and business landscapes will further strengthen Radio Bahrain’s position as a forward-looking media organisation. His appointment reflects our commitment to nurturing local talent and ensuring long-term growth under the Mumtalakat portfolio.”
Radio Bahrain Company operates 96.5 Radio Bahrain, the Kingdom’s leading English-language radio station, which has served audiences for more than four decades and remains a cornerstone of the local media landscape, almost celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The company thanked former Chief Executive Officer Omar Shaheen for his dedicated service and valuable contribution to the company’s success, and for helping strengthen its position for continued growth.
In his new role, Ghawas will oversee the company’s strategic and operational direction, with a focus on content excellence, digital transformation, and strengthening partnerships within Bahrain and beyond. - TradeArabia News Service
