Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has awarded a major contract to Hitachi Rail for the revamp of the Al Mashaaer Al Muqaddassah Metro Project, thus marking a significant milestone in the ongoing modernisation of railway infrastructure serving the holy sites in the kingdom.
Consortiums led by French group Alstom, German tech major Siemens, Japan's Hitachi Rail and Chinese group CRRC have emerged as the qualified bidders for the Riyadh Metro’s Line 7 project. A 65-km network, it will boast 19 stations, of which 14 will be built underground.
