Etihad Airways has signed a joint marketing agreement with the Cambodia Tourism Board to promote Cambodia as a leisure destination and attract more international visitors through the airline’s global network.
Signed at World Travel
Market in London, the agreement includes a $120,000 marketing campaign
targeting travellers in the UK, Germany and Italy.
The partnership will
focus on destination promotion, joint marketing initiatives and travel trade
engagement, highlighting Cambodia’s cultural heritage, diverse landscapes and
visitor experiences.
Kim Minea, CEO of
Cambodia Tourism Board, said: “Etihad’s flights to Phnom Penh make Cambodia
easier to reach, but our ambition is to give more travellers a reason to choose
Cambodia and stay longer. We are joining Etihad in a US$120,000 marketing
campaign, with each partner investing US$60,000. Focusing on the UK, Germany
and Italy, we want to show travellers that Cambodia offers much more than a
visit to Angkor — from the vibrant streets and food scene of Phnom Penh to the
beaches and islands of our southern coast, with different experiences to
discover throughout the year. By combining what Cambodia has to offer with
Etihad’s reach in these markets, we hope to inspire more European travellers to
make Cambodia their holiday destination, explore more of the country and stay
longer.”
Aysha Al Kaabi, VP
Commercial Enablement and Engagement at Etihad Airways, said: “Since launching
flights to Phnom Penh last year, we have continued to build our presence in
Cambodia and make the country more accessible to our guests. Our partnership
with Air Cambodia has opened up onward journeys to Siem Reap, bringing the
extraordinary temples of Angkor Wat within easier reach. Working with the
Cambodia Tourism Board is the next step: combining that connectivity with
compelling reasons to visit, inspiring more travellers to discover Cambodia and
supporting its tourism ambitions.”
Etihad launched direct
flights between Abu Dhabi and Phnom Penh on October 3, 2025, establishing a
connection between the two capital cities and linking Cambodia to destinations
across the airline’s international network via Abu Dhabi.
In April 2026, Etihad
further strengthened its Cambodian connections through a codeshare partnership
with Air Cambodia.
The agreement allows
Etihad passengers to book journeys to Siem Reap via Phnom Penh on a single
ticket, with baggage checked through to their final destination.
The arrangement
provides easier access to Angkor Wat and the region’s cultural heritage, as
well as Cambodia’s beaches, islands and cities.
The partnership also enables Air Cambodia passengers to book Etihad flights between Phnom Penh and Abu Dhabi, supporting greater connectivity between Cambodia, the UAE and international markets. -TradeArabia News Service
