Gulf Air Gardens launched to mark National Tree Week

Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has launched “Gulf Air Gardens,” its largest green project at the airline’s headquarters, spanning an area of 2,900 sq m. Launched in conjunction with National Tree Week, the garden is scheduled to open in November 2026, reflecting the airline’s commitment to environmental sustainability and supporting the Kingdom’s efforts to expand green spaces.

“Gulf Air Gardens” represents a significant transformation of the airline’s headquarters environment, with the site set to be developed into an integrated green space featuring a diverse range of trees and plants. The garden will serve as a prominent environmental landmark and a natural retreat for employees, enhancing the workplace environment while encouraging engagement in a healthy and inspiring setting.

Gulf Air marked the launch of the project by planting the garden’s first tree, signalling the start of landscaping at the site. The landscaping will continue over the coming weeks according to the development schedule, with the garden set to open in November as a green space bearing the name of the national carrier and reflecting its identity and commitment to the environment and community.

The launch of “Gulf Air Gardens” forms part of the airline’s participation in National Tree Week, which takes place this year from 26 to 31 October, with the participation of government entities, private-sector organisations and various segments of society, as part of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to raise environmental awareness and expand tree-planting initiatives.

The project also supports Bahrain’s National Afforestation Plan, which aims to reach 3.6 million trees by 2035, alongside the Kingdom’s aspiration to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

Commenting on the occasion, Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Martin Gauss said: “The launch of ‘Gulf Air Gardens’ is an investment in our environment and our people. We want our headquarters to serve as a model that reflects our values as a national carrier that takes its responsibility towards the environment and the community seriously. We look forward to opening the garden in November as a space that every Gulf Air employee can appreciate. We are also proud that the launch coincides with National Tree Week, supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts to expand green spaces and build a more sustainable future for generations to come.”

“Gulf Air Gardens” builds on the airline’s ongoing sustainability efforts. In June 2026, Gulf Air joined the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) CO2 Connect platform, contributing actual operational data to support more accurate and transparent calculations of carbon dioxide emissions. – TradeArabia News Service
