Abu Dhabi to open $237m Ramhan Island bridge project next year

Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced plans to open a seven-bridge network connecting Ramhan and Jubail islands to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Highway (E12) in the second quarter of 2027.

Spanning over 166,000 sq m, the AED872 million ($237 million) project will include three tunnels, ramps and roads as well as utility corridors

The development is part of the DMT’s efforts to strengthen transport connectivity in line with Abu Dhabi’s urban and economic growth.

Eisa Mubarak Almazrouei, director general of infrastructure development at the DMT, said the project would improve access to the two islands while opening up new areas for development and economic activity.

The project also incorporates environmental measures, including energy-efficient LED lighting to reduce power consumption and light pollution, he stated.

In addition, approximately 90% of the project’s waste, equivalent to over 2,200 tonnes, will be recycled during implementation, in line with the department’s commitment to environmental responsibility and best practices in infrastructure delivery, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
