De Gaulle Fleurance has advised Épopée Gestion and Enervivo on the creation of a €10 million ($11 million) platform, established alongside Urbeez, to finance biomethane injection projects in France.
The platform, funded predominantly by Épopée Gestion, aims
to support approximately 10 projects over the next three to four years,
expanding biomethane production and facilitating the conversion of existing
energy infrastructure.
The initiative will primarily target brownfield projects
involving the conversion of existing cogeneration units to biomethane
injection.
Greenfield developments and projects led by companies other
than Urbeez may also qualify for financing.
An initial investment is planned for a facility in La
Chapelle, in the Charente region, with an annual production capacity of 25 GWh.
The facility is scheduled to begin operations in autumn
2027. The platform will primarily target agricultural installations with
capacities ranging from 15 to 40 GWh annually.
The initiative comes as France’s biomethane sector explores
alternative financing and commercial models.
While some projects in Urbeez’s portfolio benefit from
feed-in tariffs, the platform intends to rely mainly on biogas production
certificates (CPB), with biogas purchase agreements (BPA) also under
consideration.
Sylvie Perrin, partner at De Gaulle Fleurance, said: “This
transaction marks a new milestone in the development of the biomethane sector
in France. The conversion of existing facilities for grid injection accelerates
the deployment of production capacity, while the development of new business
models—particularly those centered on biogas production certificates—opens up
new financing opportunities. We are pleased to have supported Épopée Gestion
and Enervivo in structuring this platform, which combines industrial expertise
and investment capacity to advance the development of biomethane. ”
De Gaulle Fleurance advised Épopée Gestion and Enervivo on
transactional and audit matters. Its team included partners Sylvie Perrin and
Lionel Attal, alongside senior managers and attorneys specialising in
transactions and audits.
Urbeez was advised by Lexcase, represented by Pénélope
Bouchard and Camille Bigan.
The platform aims to accelerate biomethane deployment by combining investment capacity with industrial expertise and alternative revenue models. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
