Saudi student Jana Saleh Abdullah Al Subeil won a gold medal and the "Best Female Student" award, presented by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), at the third edition of the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO 2026), in recognition of her scientific excellence and outstanding performance.

The award is among the special prizes established by the INSO council to honor distinguished female students and encourage their participation in scientific fields, reported SPA.

Al Subeil was selected following her outstanding performance in the Olympiad's competitions, which included a five-hour theoretical examination and a five-hour practical examination measuring participants' knowledge and skills in nuclear science, analytical abilities, experimental skills, and problem-solving capabilities.

Saudi Arabia topped the Olympiad results, with student Amjad Mahmoud Issa Al Darwish winning the gold medal and the title of "Nuclear Science Ambassador" after achieving the highest combined score in both examinations.

Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Al Shurayt won the silver medal, while Saleh Mubarak Daifallah Al-Harbi won the bronze medal.

INSO 2026 awarded eight gold medals, 13 silver medals, and 18 bronze medals, alongside a number of special awards, to 120 students and scientific specialists from 19 countries.

The event was jointly organised by the Ministry of Education, Mawhiba, and King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (KACARE), and hosted by King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah from August 2 to 9 under the theme "Bright Minds for a Promising Future."-TradeArabia News Service
