Muscat welcomes first direct Air Tanzania flight from Dar es Salaam

Muscat International Airport has welcomed the inaugural direct Air Tanzania flight from Dar es Salaam, marking the first non-stop air link between Tanzania and Oman.

The airline will operate the route three times a week using Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

The launch was celebrated with an official ceremony attended by senior government and aviation officials from both countries.

The new service is expected to strengthen air connectivity between East Africa and the Gulf, cutting travel times while boosting tourism, trade, investment and business travel.

The route was announced during the Tanzanian–Omani Tourism Promotional Forum in Muscat and builds on the countries' longstanding historical and cultural ties.

Air Tanzania said the service supports its tourism growth strategy, while Oman Airports described it as a key step in expanding regional connectivity.

Tanzania welcomed more than 29,000 visitors from Oman in the first half of 2026, with demand expected to rise following the launch of the new direct service. -TradeArabia News Service
