UK-based geophysical company Metatek-Group has launched a new airborne surveying programme in Nigeria to support energy exploration and geological mapping.
The three-year contract follows an initial survey campaign
started in 2022, during which Metatek covered 175,000 square kilometres.
The new phase will survey an additional 210,000 square
kilometres, bringing total coverage to around 42 per cent of Nigeria’s land area.
The programme will deploy advanced Full Tensor Gravity
Gradiometry (eFTG), gravity, magnetic and LiDAR technologies to provide
detailed subsurface geological insights.
Delivered with local partner Broadlink and Nigeria’s energy
sector, the data has already supported drilling outcomes and is also being
applied in mineral and renewable energy projects.
The company said field operations have entered the execution
phase, with revenue recognition beginning under the contract terms.
Dr Mark
Davies, CEO at Metatek, comments: “This programme will provide high-resolution
data rapidly across large-scale areas, enabling more accurate geological
mapping and strengthening regional exploration capabilities. The survey will
provide critical information to support future resource development and
investment decisions”. -OGN/TradeArabia News Service
