In celebration of Earth Day, Sun Siyam Olhuveli, part of the Lifestyle Collection within the House of Siyam, unveiled its newest marine initiative, the Adopt A Coral Frame experience, during a special morning launch held on April 22 at the picturesque Milano Beach on Dream Island.
Rooted in both conservation and connection,
the initiative reflects the resort’s ongoing commitment to protecting its
surrounding marine ecosystem while offering guests a meaningful way to engage
with it.
Set against a calm turquoise backdrop,
guests gathered for an intimate, hands-on introduction to coral restoration, an
experience designed to bring travellers closer to the ocean in a more personal
and lasting way.
The Adopt A Coral Frame programme invites
guests to take part in nurturing new coral growth by attaching fragments onto
specially designed frames they have selected, which are then placed in the
lagoon to form a thriving new reef.
The process begins with the careful
collection of healthy coral fragments, guided by the resort’s marine biologist.
These fragments are secured onto coral frames and placed in strategic positions
in the resort’s coral garden, where conditions support natural growth and
marine biodiversity.
Guests are invited to adopt their chosen
coral frame, take part in the planting process, and receive ongoing updates on
its development, including photos shared every six months.
Coral reefs play a vital role in the
ocean’s ecosystem. They are home to a remarkable variety of marine life, help
protect coastlines, and keep the underwater world in balance. Through this
initiative, the resort brings this importance to life in a way that feels both
accessible and deeply rewarding.
“Earth Day is a reminder that even the
smallest actions can shape something far greater,” said Chaminda Upul, Group
Sustainability Manager for Sun Siyam. “With Adopt-A-Coral Frame, we wanted to
create an experience where our guests can leave a positive mark on the ocean.
It’s simple, it’s meaningful, and it stays with you.”
Hassan Adil, General Manager of Sun Siyam
Olhuveli, added: “At Olhuveli, we believe the best experiences are the ones
that stay with you long after you leave. Adopt-A-Coral is our way of inviting
guests to be part of something lasting, while caring for the natural beauty
that makes this place so special.”
Part of the proceeds from each coral
adoption supports Sun Siyam Care, the group’s sustainability platform,
contributing directly to ongoing marine conservation efforts and long-term reef
restoration. -TradeArabia News Service
