Valmet will supply automation systems for Daklo 1-3 Power Company Limited’s Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 hydropower plants currently being built in Kon Plong Ward, Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam.
The order was placed by Industries Equipment and Solution Company (IESC), a local Valmet partner, which has signed a contract with the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor to deliver the systems.
The mission‑critical automation system will control and monitor all essential hydropower processes, ensuring safe, reliable, and high‑performance electricity generation, stated the company.
It also supports sustainability goals by optimising water balance and maximising both energy and operational efficiency.
"We chose Valmet because of its strong reputation and proven expertise in automation for hydropower projects. The solution ensures long-term reliability and efficiency through robust performance, complemented by competitive pricing. Valmet’s local lifecycle support and collaborative approach with our EPC partner gave us confidence in a successful implementation,” says Nguyen Viet Cuong, Deputy Director of IESC.
"We are proud to deliver Valmet’s distributed control systems (DCS) for Daklo hydropower plants. This project demonstrates Valmet’s commitment to Vietnam’s renewable energy sector, particularly hydropower, by providing advanced automation solutions and strong local partnerships. Through close collaboration, we ensure long-term lifecycle support and operational excellence for the customer,” says Huynh Quang Tuyen, Sales Manager, Automation Solutions business area, Valmet.
Daklo 1 and Daklo 3 hydropower plants, currently under construction, are set to become key renewable energy facilities in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam, with capacities of 12 MW and 22 MW.
These run-of-river plants contribute clean electricity to the national grid, support regional energy supply, and efficiently utilise local water resources through modern hydropower infrastructure.
The plants are expected to enter commercial operation in spring 2027.
The order is included in Valmet’s orders received of the fourth quarter 2025.
The value of the order will not be disclosed.
The deliveries will be taken over by the customer with Daklo 1 at the end of 2026 and Daklo 3 in spring 2027. -TradeArabia News Service
