Ampo installs axial flow check valves on Brazil FPSOs

Ampo Poyam Valves has supplied several highly engineered axial flow check valves for two major FPSO projects on the Brazilian coast: the P-84 (Atapu) and P-85 (Sépia) vessel platforms.

These installations form part of Petrobras’ ongoing offshore development in the Atapu and Sépia regions.

Each platform will have a daily oil production capacity of 225,000 barrels and a gas processing capacity of 10 million cubic meters.

The valves—eight 20-inch, 150# axial flow check valves made of Duplex material—have been installed downstream of critical pumps.

Their main function is to protect the pumps against reverse pressure in the pipeline, ensuring operational safety and reliability in challenging marine environments.

All valves were certified by ABS, meeting stringent offshore standards.

FRAMO (Norway), a long-standing partner of Ampo that has previously sourced castings for their pumps, is the client for this project.

While the valve specifications were determined by the customer, the strong history of successful collaboration between both companies led FRAMO to choose Ampo Poyam Valves as an alternative valve supplier.

The use of Duplex material ensures durability and corrosion resistance in marine environments, highlighting Ampo’s commitment to long-lasting engineering solutions that combine precision engineering, material excellence, and proven reliability. -TradeArabia News Service
