Global musical 'Wicked' shows in Bahrain draw 7,000

The internationally acclaimed musical "Wicked" concluded its performances at the Bahrain National Theatre following a successful run held from January 13 to 17.

This landmark production marked the first time the iconic musical was staged in Bahrain and was delivered through a strategic collaboration between Tarteeb, a leading live entertainment and event management company, and Bahrain Cinema Company (Cineco), a pioneer in the Kingdom’s cinema and entertainment sector, in cooperation with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.

'Wicked' generated exceptional interest throughout its Bahrain run, attracting more than 7,000 audience members representing over 45 nationalities from Bahrain, the wider region, and international markets. The diverse attendance, spanning multiple age groups, reflected the growing regional demand for world-class cultural and artistic content and underscored Bahrain’s capacity to attract international audiences for major theatrical productions.

Mohammed Al Muharraqi, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tarteeb, stated: “The success of Wicked reflects Bahrain’s readiness to host world-renowned productions and present them in line with the highest artistic and organisational standards.”

James Bilios, Managing Director and Executive Producer at Broadway Entertainment Group, commented: “Bringing Wicked to Bahrain for the first time has been a genuinely rewarding experience, defined by strong audience engagement and a rich cultural mix that speaks to the Kingdom’s openness and growing appreciation for international theatre. Working closely with our local partners, led by Tarteeb and Bahrain Cinema Company, enabled the production to be presented to the highest artistic standards within an environment that values creativity and nurtures talent.”  - TradeArabia News Service
