Miral's plans on track to develop Yas Island as tourist hotspot

ABU DHABI, April 22, 2018

Miral, the creator of destinations in Abu Dhabi, is showcasing all its existing and upcoming developments on Yas Island at Arabian Travel Market 2018 (ATM).

2018 marks an important year for Miral as Yas Island celebrates its 10th anniversary and looks ahead to welcome the opening of the much-anticipated $1-billion Warner Brothers World Abu Dhabi, the first Warner Bros branded indoor theme park in the world, on July 25.

“The development of Yas Island is part of our efforts and long-term plans in driving sustainable tourism growth, in line with Abu Dhabi’s vision. As one of the leading companies driving the economic diversification of the Emirate, Miral is excited to deliver on the vision of Yas Island, making it globally recognized and the popular destination of tomorrow,” said Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral.

As Miral brings more attractions to Yas Island, it continues to invest in its existing assets. At present Yas Island is home to two world-class theme parks, Yas Waterworld and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. This year, Miral will introduce a new unique 5D CineSplash attraction to Yas Waterworld, the first mega-park offering 43 rides in the UAE. As for Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the world’s first Ferrari branded theme park, Miral has invested around Dh700 million ($190.5 million) over the past four years to increase the number of rides and attractions from 19 to 37 and still more to come. Together the parks and Yas Island as a destination has won 17 international awards in 2017 for excellence from industry leaders and travellers themselves.

“We are proud of our achievements so far, and we will continue to develop and evolve as a leading destination for family entertainment and leisure,” added Al Zaabi.

The theme parks are complimented by additional attractions such as Yas Marina Circuit, one of the most technologically-advanced Formula 1 circuits in the world and a home for motorsports in the Middle East, as well as Yas Marina, a vibrant venue offering dining, fitness and leisure facilities in a stunning marine setting. Then there is Yas Mall – the biggest shopping mall in Abu Dhabi with 400 retail stores; Yas Beach and Golf Links as well as seven well-known hotels and much more.

Delivering on the promise of developing Yas Island into a wall-less resort, 2017 saw the launch of the digital transformation project which aims to upgrade and integrate the physical and digital aspects of Yas Island’s myriad offerings. Visitors can start planning their journey before they arrive, tailor their experiences to their desires and continue to revisit their memories as they leave the Island. The investment in innovation does not end here. In the near future, Miral will also implement an urban and futuristic transportation, Skytran, connecting current and future attractions on Yas Island.

Miral is also developing a Dh12-billion ($3.26 billion) mixed-use project called Yas Bay located at the southern part of Yas Island spanning 14 million-sq-ft area. Yas Bay will comprise three distinct areas: Yas Bay, a vibrant waterfront destination and entertainment district, the Media Zone featuring the new campus for twofour54 and the Residences at Yas Bay.

Today, Yas Island’s rich portfolio of experience and attractions, positions it at the core of the emirate's tourism offerings, making it on track to be one of the top destinations in the world for family, fun, and entertainment. - TradeArabia News Service
