Gulf Air to launch direct flights to Casablanca

MANAMA, April 3, 2018

Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, has announced plans to launch five weekly direct flights between Bahrain and Casablanca, Morocco, starting from June 11.

This move is part of Gulf Air’s 2018 network expansion that coincides with its new aircraft deliveries, of which five Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and two Airbus A320neos will enter Gulf Air’s fleet by end-2018. Gulf Air’s Casablanca route will be operated by the airline’s incoming Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners which will be outfitted with new, best in class products and services.

Gulf Air chief executive officer, Krešimir Kučko, said: “We are tapping into new opportunities for business and leisure travel. Serving one of the most important cities in the whole of Africa and the largest city in Morocco, is a huge step in that direction. Launching Casablanca operations demonstrates Gulf Air’s strategy of strengthening our network with key global destinations that open up new opportunities for trade, tourism and investment. We are confident this route will be a success for our passenger operations, and we look forward to facilitating business and leisure traffic between the two countries and beyond.”

“We have scheduled our Casablanca operations to serve regional travellers with convenient connections through Bahrain, providing excellent connectivity for travellers flying from the GCC, Indian Subcontinent and Asia. Alongside this, Gulf Air passengers travelling to and from Casablanca will experience our new, state-of-the-art fleet which will be outfitted with some of the best-in-class onboard products and services,” he concluded.

In Q2 2018, Gulf Air will also launch direct flights to Abha and Tabuk in Saudi Arabia. This will expand its Saudi Arabia operations to serve seven cities in total, complementing the airline’s current Dammam, Riyadh, Madina Al Munawarah, Jeddah and Gassim operations. Gulf Air will also launch direct flights to Bangalore and Calicut in India, Alexandria and Sharm El Shaikh in Egypt and Baku in Azerbaijan.
