Rotana hotels in Abu Dhabi participate in Earth Hour
ABU DHABI, March 27, 2018
As part of Rotana Earth, the group's global corporate sustainability platform, Centro Capital Centre and Capital Centre Arjaan by Rotana in Abu Dhabi participated in the Earth Hour 2018 global campaign.
Earth Hour, one of the world’s most important 60 minutes calls to action in the fight against climate change, involves the participation of millions around the globe by switching off lights to shine a light on the need for climate action.
The hotels this year participated in the campaign by not only switching off the lights. At Centro Capital Centre, an Earth hour information hub was created in the lobby. Key information about Energy Saving, Recycling and Climate change was strategically presented to in-house guests through stickers in the lobby which gave them essential information as they were proceeding with their check-in procedure to the hotel. At Capital Centre Arjaan by Rotana, the official Earth Hour video was played in the hotel lobby during the one hour and an audience of guests viewed the campaign.
In 2017, through several energy and water saving initiatives, Centro Capital Centre could save -
• Energy – 22294 kilowatts (This energy can heat water in 425 guest rooms for a month!)
• Water - 2087-meter cubes (This water is enough for 24 days’ supply in 90 per cent occupancy)
For Earth hour, both hotels collectively have saved over 164 Kilowatts per hour.
In this regard, Chadi Nicolas, the hotel's general manager, said: “Earth hour campaign is more than just switching off lights for an hour. We are glad to have implemented an information hub in our hotel lobby and were able to create a bigger awareness impact about the cause to our guests.” - TradeArabia News Service
