Bahrain gears up for fifth IGN Convention

MANAMA, October 17, 2017

Tarteeb for Events Production & Services announced it will be hosting the fifth edition of the IGN Convention during a press conference that was held at the Capital Club in the Bahrain Financial Harbour on October 16.
 
The press conference was attended by the events strategic partners and sponsors including Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Viva, Tamkeen, and the Bahrain Economic Development Board. During the press conference, Tarteeb revealed that the two-day event will be held on October 20 and 21 at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir and will host a line-up of world-renowned celebrities including Pilou Asbaek, who played the role of Euron Greyjoy in the most watched television series Game of Thrones, the professional American wrestler Oscar Gutierrez also known as Rey Mysterio, and the well-known Japanese influencer Shams Qamar.

“It gives us a great pleasure to announce the 5th edition of the IGN Convention in Bahrain that will take place in few days. At Tarteeb, we are committed to hosting the best events and world renowned celebrities in an effort to continuously enhance the position of the kingdom as a hub that embraces entertainment in the region,” said the chief executive officer of Tarteeb, Mohamed Al Sulaiti.

The director of Tourism Marketing and Promotions at the BTEA, Yousif Al Khan also added: “We are pleased to provide support to this event and all such major events that have the potential to attract visitors from the kingdom and its neighboring countries. The BTEA will further continue to develop its strategy to uplift the tourism sector under the slogan ‘Ours.Yours’ and contribute towards the kingdoms economy and the realisation of the 2030 economic vision.”

The executive director – ICT at the Economic Development Board, John Kilmartin said: “The EDB is keen on supporting conferences and events that attracts companies and creates opportunities for the kingdom’s private sector. The net worth of the gaming market in the gulf region is estimated at $1 billion and is likely to witness more growth. This enables the kingdom to benefit from the increased demand to attract companies specialised in the field to operate from Bahrain and provide job opportunities in the local market.”

“Since its inception, Tamkeen has been working towards strengthening the national economy by supporting the private sector in all aspects to make it the engine of economic growth in Bahrain. This event is expected to have a positive impact in supporting the new generation of youth, startup businesses, and individuals, as well as attracting international companies in the field as it is witnessing a remarkable growth that creates job and investment opportunities,” added the Public Relations manager at Tamkeen, Maha Al Banki.

The Public Relations manager at Viva Bahrain, Jamal Al Sayed further commented: “We are a proud to sponsor the IGN Convention for the third consecutive year, having renewed our partnership for the 2018 edition as well. This event is a perfect platform for Viva to connect with the youth and showcase the latest 4G+ network capabilities. The gaming convention will provide a number of exciting activities that cater to the entire family including Factory 13, Fifa, Call of Duty and Overwatchas. It will host a number of interactive indoor and outdoor games, live performances, and Cosplay competitions, and the chance to meet renowned celebrities.

The IGN Convention is considered as the biggest gathering of video game, movie, comics, and pop culture convention in the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted by Tarteeb and its strategic partners and sponsors including the BTEA, Viva Bahrain, Startup Bahrain, Tamkeen, and Y.K AlMoayaad Group. The event held in the previous years attracted thousands of visitors from the Kingdom and its neighboring GCC countries.

The previous editions of the IGN Convention were attended by world-renowned celebrities including Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad, Hafthor Bjornsson of Game of Thrones, Troy Baker of The Last of Us, and American professional wrestler, Kurt Angel and Booker T.
