Emirates to fly over 106,000 travellers this weekend

DUBAI, June 20, 2017

Emirates is anticipating high passenger traffic on its flights this upcoming weekend, with over 106,000 travellers expected to pass through Emirates Terminal 3 from June 21 as they journey out for their summer holidays and Eid breaks.

The busiest weekend day for the airline is expected to be on Friday, June 23, where over 37,000 Emirates passengers will depart through Terminal 3.

As with any busy travel period, Emirates is reminding customers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before flight departure, and plan extra time to get to the airport. Online check-in is available 48 hours before flight departures while check-in counters in Dubai open six hours before flight departure. The airline also operates check-in facilities at the car park terminal around the clock at its hub in Dubai. Customers can choose to check in and drop their luggage at the car park check-in facilities from 24 hours to six hours prior to departure easing the crowds during peak travel periods.

Along with checked in baggage, passengers are strongly advised to adhere to carry-on baggage weight limits, which are 7kg for Economy Class and 14kg for Business and First Class. The airline's staff will be checking the weight of carry-on bags at various touch points before passengers board their flights. Alternatively, customers heading to Emirates Terminal 3 can choose to drop their luggage at one of the 46 dedicated bag drop counters in Economy Class or separate counters in First Class and Business Class from six hours to 90 minutes prior to departure. Boarding on all flights begins 45 minutes prior to departure, and gates in all concourses close 20 minutes prior to departure.

Those checking in online are required to check in their luggage no later than 90 minutes prior to departure. Customers holding an e-boarding pass and travelling with carry-on bags only, can proceed directly to passport control and security clearance. Customers are advised to go through security checks no later than 60 minutes before flight departure.

For families, Emirates has designated special check-in areas consisting of 20 economy check-in counters in Terminal 3 at Area 2. For passengers accessing Emirates lounges in Dubai Airport, kids will be able to enjoy a dedicated play area. Across all classes, families can benefit from priority boarding to the aircraft.

Those travelling to the US, Canada and the UK are reminded to pack their electronic devices into their check-in luggage to avoid delays. - TradeArabia News Service
