Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara has appointed Axel Bethke to the position of general manager.
An experienced hotelier, Bethke brings 25 years of international hospitality experience to his new role at the iconic leisure retreat.
Axel has been passionate about the hospitality world from a young age, which drove him to start a traditional German apprenticeship as a hotelier before pursuing higher education in Executive MBA Studies completed with an MBA Diploma in Tourism in France.
He started building his international career when he got his first hospitality job as a chef de rang and continued enhancing his skills in service in destinations as diverse as China, Jordan, Germany, Austria and the US.
With the aim of understanding hotel operations as a whole and getting insider’s knowledge on how each department contributes to the hotel’s success, Axel went to gain hands on experience in different departments. He worked in various Food & Beverage manager positions before training as a sales manager and later on climbed up the ladder of success to become the executive assistant manager at a five-star hotel in Germany followed by his first post as a general manager the following year. His most recent position was general manager of a 471 room luxury city hotel in Chengdu, China.
