Dans showcases world’s largest tower simulator

DUBAI, April 4, 2017

The world’s largest Tower Simulator, Tosim, a 360-degree cutting edge facility that simulates the future of aviation, is being showcased by Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans) at the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE), said a report.

The Tosim is capable of mimicking any airport environment, and "is utilised by dans as a training facility to train Air Traffic Control Officers", a report in WAM cited Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, chairman of Emirates Group and chairman of Dubai Air Navigation Services as saying.

Mohammed A. Ahli, Director-General of DCAA and CEO of dans said: "In the race to excellence, the organisation’s participation at the event is one of the many channels through which dans strives to cater to the government’s vision and initiatives that aim at enhancing organisational performance, as well as creating a promising future that is shaped on becoming pioneers in human development, innovation and excellence."

"Dubai Air Navigation Services plays a pivotal role in the aviation sector, one of the main and leading economic boosters that contribute 28 per cent of Dubai’s GDP, in addition to providing ample opportunities for innovation and offering 250,000 employment opportunities, through providing safe, efficient and expeditious air navigation services to Dubai and the Northern Emirates," Ahli added.

According to the Director-General, the organisation has been instrumental in driving significant growth in air traffic movements, as a daily average of 1,530 air traffic movements has been managed during 2016, in addition to recording a total capacity growth of 3 per cent in comparison to the year 2015, the report said.

Held under the patronage of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the DIGAE exhibition runs from April 2-4 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
