Bahrain Tourism Authority reveals event lineup for April

Two major events will be organized by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority next month, it was revealed in a press conference held today at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre.

The much acclaimed show, ‘Sesame Street Live’, produced by Vstar Entertainment based in Minneapolis, US will be hosted for the very first time in April along with the return of the popular ‘Huarfana’ Festival.

“Bahrain will be on center stage next month as it hosts the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix. It is the perfect time to host events during this period as it also coincides with the holidays of many neighboring countries. Both events are appealing to a wide variety of tourists,” said the chief executive officer of BTEA, Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa.

“Our main aim, through such events, is to promote Bahrain as an ideal tourist destination resulting in the development of the vibrant sector and the overall economic growth,” he added.

Further commenting about the events, director of Tourism Marketing and Promotions at Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority, Yousif Al Khan said: “We anticipate a large turnout for both events as we welcome regional and international visitors to the kingdom. The events aim to provide a unique experience for tourists across all walks of life and ages.”

The show ‘Sesame Street Live: Make a New Friend’ is based on the popular TV show that brings together a number of popular characters. The interactive show will be held across five days from April 4–8 with the first show on April 4 at 6.30pm, followed by shows on April 5 at 3pm and 6.30pm and three daily shows from April 6th-8th at 10am, 3pm and 6.30pm at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre. Tickets will be sold on Virgin’s website.

The annual Hurafana Festival will return between April 12 and 18 and aims to promote the kingdom’s rich and diverse traditional handicrafts industry.

The event, held at Bab Al Bahrain, will be exhibiting the different handicrafts such as basket weaving, production of traditional musical instruments and wooden boxes, pottery making, ship building and much more. The event is free of charge and will also include live performances by traditional bands. - TradeArabia News Service
