AirBaltic lowers checked-in baggage charges

RIGA, November 17, 2016

The Latvian airline airBaltic has made checked-in baggage charges up to three times lower.

Eva Plakane, airBaltic senior vice president Revenue Management, said: “This has been a very successful year – airBaltic lowered ticket prices, achieved unprecedented customer satisfaction and very strong passenger growth. Now we go further and make checked-in baggage up to three times cheaper.”

Instead of the previous fixed price, airBaltic website now offers cheaper checked-in luggage starting at €9.99 ($10.7) for short regional flights.  If the checked-in baggage service is purchased at a later stage separately from the Basic flight ticket, the fee is €34.99 ($37.4) on airBaltic website or €40.00 ($42.8) at the airport check-in. Premium ticket holders and infants travel with one checked-in bag for free.

By introducing cheaper checked-in baggage airBaltic aims to create extra space for passenger’s hand luggage, by inducing more passengers to check their heavier bags for storage in the belly of the aircraft, and free up additional space in the cabin.

From every one of these locations, airBaltic offers convenient connections via Riga to its network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, CIS and the Middle East. In addition, airBaltic also offers new direct flights from Tallinn and Vilnius. - TradeArabia News Service
