Qatar Airways to launch Atlanta service with A380 flight
DOHA, April 29, 2016
Qatar Airways will mark a new chapter in its history of operations to the US by flying the superjumbo Airbus A380 on the maiden Doha – Atlanta flight on June 1 only, with regular daily service using Boeing 777 aircraft.
Operated in a tri-class configuration, the upper deck offers eight seats in First Class, 48 in Business Class and a lounge for premium passengers, and 461 Economy Class seats spread across both decks.
The A380 service to Atlanta will be the first time the Qatar Airways brings its A380 product to the US.
Qatar Airways currently operates six Airbus A380s in its fleet, which are regularly scheduled to London (LHR), Paris (CDG) and Bangkok (BKK). Qatar Airways originally ordered 13 Airbus A380s, with seven to be delivered.
The airline has selected Atlanta as its first US route to receive the superjumbo to celebrate the launch of its 10th new destination to the US. There are presently no other scheduled A380 services by the carrier to other points on its Americas footprint.
Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: “Qatar Airways will inaugurate Atlanta, its 10th destination to the US, in just a few weeks’ time and in honour of that, we wished to provide our passengers with a unique experience, in addition to the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 777 which are signature products that we currently fly across all our gateways in the US.
“The Qatar Airways A380 provides a memorable experience for our passengers, with a spacious double decker layout, refined finishings, customised interiors and convenient design. We look forward to welcoming our passengers to and from Atlanta on our inaugural flight on June 1, but also on every flight thereafter. We look forward to serving the global travel needs of the people of Atlanta.”
Each seat features individual set-back TV screens and up to 3,000 entertainment options with the Qatar Airways’ newly launched Oryx One system.
The award-winning carrier conveniently connects Atlanta to destinations across the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, Africa and Australasia regions via its home and hub, Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. - TradeArabia News Service
