Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl – Doha wins three awards

Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl – Doha scooped three awards at the Food & Travel 2016 GCC Awards, held in Bahrain on last month.
Marsa Malaz Kempinski was selected as the 'GCC’s Best Resort Hotel', while El Faro as named the 'Best Spanish Restaurant', and Antica Pesa was recognised as the 'Best Newcomer Restaurant'. All the awards are significant achievements, considering the hotel has been open for just over one year and that the nominees were many elite restaurants and hotels spread across the GCC.
The ceremony took place under the patronage of Zayed R. Alzayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and was attended by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority acting chief executive Shaikh Khalid bin Hamoud Al Khalifa, diplomats and more than 120 hospitality leaders and other guests.
The Food & Travel Awards highlight the excellence of the region’s hotels and restaurants. The initial call for nominations was sent out in February last year, with the winners selected by a team from Food & Travel, along with expert panellists, who also incorporated public opinion by way of over 263,000 votes.
The hotel also won the Qatar awards for the 'Best Resort Hotel', the 'Best Middle Eastern Restaurant' for Al Sufra and the 'Best Italian Restaurant' for Antica Pesa.
