Bahrain sees rise in cruise tourist numbers

Cruise tourists to Bahrain top 61,500

MANAMA, May 31, 2015

A total of 61,598 tourists and crew members have arrived in Bahrain via Khalifa Bin Salman Seaport since January, a report said.

More than 35 cruise ships docked at the port over the past five months, up from 25 last year, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

Seaports Police director Firas Ibrahim Al Daisi revealed the updated figures in an interview with Bahrain News Agency.

'Customs authorities handled 111,214 containers at Khalifa Bin Salman Seaport last year,' he said.

Citing latest figures, he said that an average 192 ships dock at the port on a monthly basis.

The number of travellers through Bahrain's ports averages 12,000 per month. – TradeArabia News Service
