Dubai Airports launches multi-lingual announcements system
DUBAI, May 12, 2015
Dubai Airports has unveiled a new initiative to cater to its growing global passenger base at both Dubai International and Al Maktoum International at DWC by making automated announcements in up to 25 languages.
The new system also supports Dubai Airports’ silent airport policy at both Dubai International and Al Maktoum International at DWC by making automated boarding announcements specific to the passenger boarding gates, premium lounges and transfer desks, said a statement.
The new system will standardise all boarding announcements, which will provide better voice quality, making it easier for passengers to receive the information they need for their journey through the airport, it said.
Boarding announcements will be made in 12 languages in Concourse A and in International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standard languages at open gates in Concourse D, Terminal 2 and Al Maktoum International, which includes English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.
The new announcement system was officially launched in Dubai International’s Concourse A in April and will be rolled out to all boarding gates across both airports by August this year, said the statement.
Chris Garton, executive vice president - Operations at Dubai Airports, said: “The implementation of automated boarding lounge announcements is another step towards delivering the service excellence we aspire to and enhancing the passenger experience in terms of overall improvement of the airport ambience in line with our silent airport concept.
“The multilingual system also recognises that we cater to passengers from across the globe.” - TradeArabia News Service
