Egypt seeks $696m investment in tourism projects

Egyptian Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou revealed that five tourism projects valued at EGP5.3 billion ($696.7 million) will be presented at Egypt’s Economic Summit in March, a report said.
The projects include a tourism resort in Hurghada valued at EGP1.076 billion ($141.4 million); a resort on the North Coast valued at EGP318 million ($41.8 million); two resorts in Marsa Allam valued at EGP1.878 billion ($246.8 million) collectively; and a sports resort in south Safaga valued at EGP1.989 billion ($261.4 million), a report in Daily News Egypt said.
The country’s tourism income increased last year to $7.5bn ($985.9 million), a growth of 27 per cent compared to the year before.
The Economic Summit, to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh from March 13 to 15 under the title of ‘Egypt is the Future’, aims to support the development of the Egyptian economy as it steadily moves towards economic recovery. – TradeArabia News Service
