City Centre Muscat logs 10m visitors in 2014

MUSCAT, March 16, 2015

City Centre Muscat, the largest lifestyle shopping destination in Oman, recorded more than 10 million visitors in 2014, representing a seven per cent increase over the previous year.

Retailers at the mall, owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim, the region’s leading shopping mall, retail, and leisure pioneer across the Mena region, enjoyed almost a 10 per cent increase in sales from the previous year, a statement said.

Important enhancements by City Centre Muscat in 2014 contributed to this growth, including the launch of a 10-screen VOX Cinemas, the renovation of Magic Planet, the mall’s food court dining area, and the addition of a new car park facility accommodating 700 vehicles, for a total of 2,250 car park spaces available across the mall, said Husam Al Mandhari, senior mall manager for City Centre Muscat.

“In response to the needs of our shoppers, Majid Al Futtaim’s investment in City Centre Muscat has positively influenced the mall’s sales and footfall, while benefiting residents and tourists through enhanced shopping, dining and entertainment experiences,” he said.

City Centre Muscat also hosted unique exciting events and activities in the past year, which contributed to the destination’s popularity.

City Centre Muscat’s positive performance in the last year complement the mall’s current redevelopment plans, which, once completed in 2015, will represent a retail expansion of 10,000 sq m worth RO27 million ($70 million).

The mall will welcome 60 additional new shopping outlets featuring a diverse collection of lifestyle-oriented brands, as well as a new dining zone, with five new casual-dining restaurants featuring different international cuisine concepts. – TradeArabia News Service
