Netgear releases first 10GB Smart switch

Netgear, a worldwide provider of advanced, branded networking and storage products, has announced the release of its first 10-gigabit Smart Switch for mid-market networks in the Middle East.
The Netgear ProSafe 52-Port Gigabit stackable Smart Switch offers true stacking capability combined with high performance, scalability and reliability, a statement from the company said.
The new Smart Switch is being presented as the ideal companion to the rapidly emerging class of 10-gigabit servers, delivering maximum throughput from server to switch for demanding tasks such as data replication and backup, virtualisation, video on demand and high-volume transaction processing including lifetime warranty.
The Smart Switch, which is currently being offered at almost half the price of a managed switch, comes with 48-gigabit ports to connect to a network and four 10-gigabit SFP+ ports for stacking or uplift functions to servers, it said.

The ProSafe Smart Switches are being offered as alternatives to the fully Managed Stackable Switches. The models come with a 20Gbps dual ring stacking bus, which can handle up to six ProSafe Stackable Switches or 144-288 ports can be stacked together and managed from a single IP address.
Netgear’s user-friendly web-based ProSafe Control Center integrates well with the ProSafe Smart Switches, to provide simple and comprehensive management through a streamlined interface, it said. – TradeArabia News Service
