Swiss firm creates 24-time zone chronograph
Dubai, July 12, 2010
Luxury Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux has created the world’s first chronograph to indicate 24 different times around the world including New York, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Dubai.
The novel watch ww.tc (World Wide Time Control) - Financial reflects Girard-Perregaux’s great watch making tradition and passion for design, a statement said.
The watch features two mobile discs around the dial: a 24-hour ring is synchronised with the hour hand.
A second disc can be adjusted with the crown at nine o’clock; it displays the names of the twenty-four cities and the periods when the four bourses are open for business. When the red pointer on the hour ring is opposite one of these periods, that particular market is open.
The hour ring features a day/night contrast, making it easier to read, harmonizing with the silver or anthracite dial.
The large gold case, 43 mm in diameter, houses a Girard-Perregaux automatic mechanical movement, which can be viewed through an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. – TradeArabia News Service
