LG launches new netbook

Amman, May 31, 2010

LG Electronics (LG), a leading technology innovator, has launched a new netbook that maximises connectivity through the trademark netbook function LG Smart POP, which comes with five functions on the home screen.

Running on Windows 7 starter OS and with a slew of handy features, the 10.1-inch LG X140 packs a 1.83/1.66 GHz Intel Atom processor, a 1 GB memory and a 250 GB hard disk drive.

“Netbooks have been a huge hit in the PC market thanks to their benefits in connectivity and mobility, as well as their chic, colourful covers,” said Kevin Cha, managing director of LG Electronics Levant.

“LG is now focusing strongly on how to make consumers feel completely at ease while using netbooks, and to this end, we will continue to invest our products with the best consumer-oriented features and LG’s smartest software,” he added.

The LG Smart POP features several functions including the file transfer function which enables the simple transfer of folders or files between the PC and mobile phones, dial and message functions, which let users make calls or send SMS direct from the netbook’s screen; while the contacts and Outlook sync functions automatically synchronize contact information in mobile phones or Outlook between a mobile phone and the LG X140.

The LG X140 offers an array of easy-to-use features through Smart Pack, LG’s software suite, while the Smart On 2.0 function provides quick, seamless access to email, and opens a menu of frequently used functions within five seconds of booting the computer.

The LG X140’s slim and sleek chassis comes in four colors – white, hot pink, pastel pink (Brazil only) and black – offering a complete range of options for the style-conscious consumer.

With two battery options – both six- or nine-cell units – letting the LG X140 operate between nine and twelve hours, the netbook weighs either 1.3 or 1.45 kg.

In addition, with its LED backlighting, the 10.1-inch HD LCD screen greatly enhances the viewing experience with 1366 x 768 resolution images.

The LG X140 also packs multimedia features including a 1.3-megapixel webcam with the You-Cam viewer, and SRS TruSurround HD sound. – TradeArabia News Service
