Landmark opens new Oasis Centre
Dubai, March 29, 2009
Landmark Group, a leading retailer and one of Middle East’s fastest growing business conglomerates, has announced the opening of its new Oasis Centre.
The new Oasis Centre is located between the second and third interchange on the arterial Sheikh Zayed road, offers the convenience of a neighborhood shopping centre, with the variety that comes with big malls.
The Centre was officially inaugurated by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, at an exclusive launch featuring a display of arial acrobatics and an energetic performance by Dubai Drums.
Speaking on the occasion, Micky Jagtiani, chairman of Landmark Group said, 'Dubai has made its mark on the international landscape as a key shopping destination, and the rebirth of Oasis Centre is a further affirmation of the vibrancy of our retail industry.'
'I am delighted to be part of this new beginning and affirm that the core elements of value and convenience resonate through every aspect of the new Oasis Centre,' he remarked.
Built in 30 months, the architectural concept of Oasis Centre stems from a vision to create a traditional yet modern edifice that exudes warmth, harmony and convenience for the entire family.
Conceptualized by the Dubai based Archgroup Consultants, the Centre’s Art Deco structure is a vibrant fresh design approach and will count amongst the stylish and modern architectural examples in Dubai.
On entering the Centre, shoppers are immediately greeted by a dramatic glass dome – the largest suspended dome in the Middle East, which is designed to radiate light throughout the mall.
The distinctive, inward-looking interior design of Oasis Centre provides customers with a panoramic view of all the stores, and has a unique vertical transportation system in place for convenient traffic movement. Suspended from the dome is a striking multi-coloured spiral feature which offsets the curved glass panels.
Vipen Sethi, CEO, Landmark Group said the launch marks yet another milestone in the history of Landmark Group and 'we are truly proud of this achievement. It has taken months of hard work and unwavering commitment to make this dream a reality.'
The Oasis Centre spans a total area of 1.44 million sq. ft. and retail space just under one million sq. ft. spread across four levels, with 76 per cent of the stores open at the time of the launch.
The new Oasis Centre will house 77 stores including all of Landmark Group’s core businesses – Centrepoint including Babyshop, Shoe Mart, Splash, Lifestyle & Beautybay, and Max, Home Centre, Q Home Décor, E-max, Fun City, Gourmet Station, Spaces, Shoexpress and the Group operated international franchise businesses.
Oasis Centre also provides a diverse shopping experience with a number of globally recognized brands including Carrefour Express, the first Fitness First exclusively for women, Sun & Sand Sports, Nike Lifestyle, New Look, Koton, Ecco and Valencia.
