Panasonic produces record 300m TVs

Dubai, November 4, 2008

Panasonic Corporation has rolled out 300 million TV sets, which makes it the world’s first TV manufacturer to reach this record.

The Japan-based company has been manufacturing TV sets for homes since 1952.

The Panasonic brand name started appearing in the TV market in 1988 after the company recorded its first production of 100 million units three years earlier,  and it reached 200 million TV sets in 1998.

“Panasonic has been producing TVs for fifty-six years. From black and white to LCDs, flat panels and now our eco-friendly Viera TVs, Panasonic has always strived to deliver the most innovative, user-friendly and relevant technologies to homes all over the world,” said Panasonic Marketing Middle East managing director Seiji Koyanagi.

The company recently showcased its prototype 150-inch Life Wall and one-inch ultra-slim, robust neo plasma TVs during the Gitex technology week.

On October 1, the Matsushita corporate name was changed to “Panasonic Corporation” with existing brands unified as one name.-TradeArabia News Service
