Sharjah, November 20, 2007
Sahara Centre, the leading family shopping and entertainment destination in the UAE and one of Sharjah’s prominent landmarks, has registered 30 per cent increase in sales during September-October 2007.
The shopping centre, which organised a unique Sahara Ramadan Charity Auction as part of its Ramadan initiative – the first-of-its-kind auction at any shopping centre in UAE, also reported a 70 per cent increase in footfalls during the period under review.
“The innovative Ramadan promotion during September and October 2007 was a great success and this is evident in the spurt in sales and footfalls at Sahara Centre. More importantly, we could play a pivotal role in upholding the spirit of Ramadan and encourage our customers to think about those less who are less fortunate than us through our Sahara Ramadan Charity Auction,” said managing director of Sahara Centre Jean Pierre Nammour.
The Sahara Ramadan Charity Auction was conducted live in the mall with a wide array of luxury items like cars, home theatre systems, Umra packages, 19th Century Holy Quran manuscripts, handicraft items as well as electronics getting under the gavel. The charity auction witnessed unprecedented response from the residents.
The special promotion auction ran across for four weeks, maintaining the surprise element and encouraging customers to bid for a dignified cause.
“We have seen a record year with the success of our various promotions. Our special Ramadan promotion was a grand success in building our popularity as a family shopping destination. We wish to continue our tradition to bring families and friends together through the fun and festivities of shopping,” said marketing manager of Sahara Centre Rima Chammas.
