Doha Cables, QICC win $521m Kahramaa deals

Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has signed two call-off agreements for supply of low-voltage (LV), 11 kV and pilot power cables with Doha Cables and Qatar International Cables Company (QICC), said a report.

The agreements were signed for a period of for two years at a total cost of QR1.9 billion ($521.83 million), added the Gulf Times report.

The signing ceremony was attended by Kahramaa president and senior engineer Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari; Doha Cables chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani; QICC's Sheikh Fahd bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani and a number of officials, it said.

The value of the contract Kahramaa signed with Doha Cables exceeds QR1.24 billion ($340.56 million) while that with QICC is QR640 million ($175.7 million).

The two contracts are valued at QR1.88 billion ($516.34 million), while the total length of the cables is 10,000 km.

Under the call-off agreement, the supplier provides materials to Kahramaa within two days of the order. Kahramaa also has call-off contracts with various companies.
