Drake & Scull unit wins key India, Palestine contracts

DUBAI, November 1, 2016

UAE-based Drake & Scull International (DSI) said its wholly-owned German subsidiary Passavant Energy & Environment (PE&E) has secured contracts worth Dh246 million ($67 million) to build wastewater treatment plants in New Delhi and Bangalore (India) and in the Gaza region of Palestine.

DSI is a regional market leader in integrated design, engineering and commissioning, procurement, construction and construction management.

The Indian projects will be executed via a joint venture with Larsen & Toubro (L&T), while the Palestinian scheme will be in co-ordination with Masoud and Ali Contracting Company (MACC).

As per the deal, PE&E will undertake the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work for the wastewater treatment plants and additionally assume responsibility for the process design, procurement, installation, commissioning and operations and maintenance for the plants.

On the win, Kris Wiume, the managing director for PE&E, said: "These project awards will enhance our historical technical expertise and vast global experience and improve our market share performance in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) and the South Asia region."

"The water and waste water treatment business continues to gather momentum in our key markets and is poised to deliver improved results in the short term," he added.

PE&E is a global leader in the fields of municipal wastewater, sludge, water and industrial wastewater treatment and is based in Frankfurt, Germany.

The company is renowned for designing and installing wastewater treatment plants worldwide which are currently treating over one million cu m of water and generating more than 600 MW of electricity across Europe and the Mena and South Asia region.-TradeArabia News Service
