Korea firm commissions biomass power plant

South Korea’s GS EPS, a top power generation company in which Oman Oil Company (OOC) has a 30 per cent stake, has inaugurated the largest biomass power plant in Asia, a report said.
The plant has a capacity of 105 MW and is built at a cost of about $273 million, added the Oman Observer report.
“It is a great pleasure for OOC to witness the inauguration of the project completion with GS Holdings,” Hilal bin Ali al Kharousi, vice-president of Emerging Businesses at OOC, was quoted as saying in the report.
“This investment is part of the Company’s integrated strategy to diversify its growing investments internationally. OOC plays a vital role to facilitate the transfer of expertise and technology to form a knowledge-based economy, and aims to build the technological and operational capacities through strategic partnerships. In future similar renewable energy project opportunity can be explored in Oman.”
