Qatar Fuel to set up 15 portable fuel stations

DOHA, June 10, 2015

Woqod (Qatar Fuel), a top distributor of petroleum products in the country, plans to set up 15 portable petrol stations in Doha in a move to streamline the distribution process, a report said.

The fuel stations will be installed as temporary filling stations in highly crowded places in the suburbs, added The Peninsula report.

The make-shift stations will continue to operate until Woqod build permanent stations.

The shortages are partly due to the rising population as well as several existing petrol stations having been demolished for renovation, the report said.

“Woqod is actively coordinating with the civic ministry for plot allotment,” a Woqod source was quoted in the report, which cited Al Sharq.

The portable fuel stations that have a capacity of 4,000 to 10,000 gallons of fuel storage are safe, both environmentally and from the viewpoint of users’ safety and security, the report said.

It takes only a few hours to install them and make them operational, the report noted.
