India's Nuberg wins UAE calcium chloride plant deal
NOIDA, India, December 2, 2014
India-based Nuberg Engineering has won a contract from Al Ghaith, a major diversified business house in the UAE, to set up a calcium chloride project in the country.
The project is the first calcium chloride plant in the UAE and will have a capacity of 85 tonnes per day (tpd).
Nuberg has a long-standing association with Al Ghaith and with this new project, the total contract between the two companies is worth about $50 million, a statement said.
The agreement for the new project was signed during the inauguration of the pre-commissioning activities of Al Ghaith's chlor alkali project on the sidelines of the recently concluded Adipec in Abu Dhabi.
Nuberg, which carried out the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction (EPFC) for the project, had also recently won a second chlor alkali project from Al Ghaith.
A K Tyagi, chairman, Nuberg Engineering, said: "We are excited about the project as it gives us the opportunity to set up the UAE's first calcium chloride plant, making us one of the most trusted and reliable EPFC- lump sum turnkey (LSTK) contract companies globally.
"Winning this project is a reflection of our proven abilities and furthermore leverages our technology together with our one-stop solution and project management capabilities for EPC projects," he said.
The scope of the project includes the process design and technology, basic and detail engineering, project management, procurement, erection, quality inspection, safety enforcement, hand holding, training and commissioning services.
The fabrication for heavy process equipment will be done at the company's state-of-the-art manufacturing unit in Gujarat (India).
Ali Hamel, chairman, Al Ghaith Industries, said: "We are proud to announce the UAE's first calcium chloride plant. This strategic plant will affect import/export balance of calcium chloride in the country's favour. The project will enable us to not only cater to the local market but also export to neighbouring countries."
Almamoon Al Baadani, general manager, Al Ghaith Industries, said: "This is an important project which further strengthens our position in the oil and gas business. The project will take us to a higher growth trajectory as it is the first calcium chloride plant in UAE."
