Bahrain aims to boost energy reserves

Massive efforts to boost Bahrain's energy reserves were urged by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa yesterday.

He stressed the need to upgrade oil and gas sectors to meet the needs of Bahrain's development process and enhance their contribution to the economy.

Speaking as he chaired a special work meeting, the Premier recommended ideal alternatives to ensure the kingdom has access to all types of energy stressing the government's keenness to boost natural resources for the benefit of all citizens.

He also directed the continuity of Bahrain refinery, to boost its longevity and promote its competitiveness by modernising it and increasing production of high quality oil by-products.

The Prime Minister underscored the need to follow up on energy projects by luring more investments in this field.

The meeting also spotlighted some vital development projects in the oil and gas field which are either state-funded or will be financed by investment companies.

Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza gave a briefing on present and future oil and gas projects which aim to boost productivity and raise oil and gas reserves.

Alternatives to boost oil revenues were also discussed alongside other key issues pertaining to the oil and gas field.

The Prime Minister directed to adopt awareness programmes aimed at protecting energy and ensuring best use of it by promoting healthy practices. - TradeArabia News Service
