DUBAI, October 18, 2017
Renault, a leading automobile manufacturer, revealed that the Renault Koleos, a compact SUV model, has received a five-star rating in safety tests administered by the independent organisation Euro NCAP, one of the industry’s most rigorous tests of vehicle safety.
The Koleos, which was named ‘Best Sub Compact SUV’ at the Middle East Car of the Year Awards earlier this year, passed the new protocol of 2016 Euro NCAP tests with flying colours, highlighting Renault's commitment to safety on the roads and cementing the model as the ideal family SUV, said a statement.
With strong sales of 5,300 units in the first half of this year, the Koleos has already exceeded expectations in the Middle East market, it said.
Designed to take on any adventure, the Koleos SUV has an athletic stance that gives it a robust yet premium look, inside there’s a feeling of well-being thanks to an ergonomically designed interior and an array of innovative driver aids to make journeys as comfortable and safe as possible.
The Euro NCAP results showed that the model achieved an impressive 90 per cent score for adult occupant protection, 79 per cent for children, 63 per cent for pedestrians and 75 per cent for safety assist.
Marwan Haidamous, managing director, Renault Middle East, said: “The model, is the fifth model in the Renault line up to receive the five-star Euro NCAP rating, following in the footsteps of the Captur, Megane, Talisman and ZOE.”
“Renault targets excellence in the independent NCAP tests and our models benefit from Renault’s vast experience in the realm of safety. This recognition is testament to our experience and dedication to safety on the roads,” Haidamous said.
The model is equipped with an array of safety equipment as standard, including two adaptive front airbags, two lateral thorax/shoulder airbags for front occupants, two curtain airbags, anti-whiplash front and rear head rests, anti-submarining front seats and rear Isofix anchorage for i-size child seats.
The Koleos uses very high elastic limit steel for the engine frame and high-strength steel for the passenger safety cell to protect the cabin in the case of a major impact. All of the seat belts in the model are equipped with pretensioners and load limiters.
When it comes to active safety, the Koleos’ raft of standard equipment includes traction control, latest-generation electronic stability control (ESC), electronic brake force distribution and hill start assist.
Ensuring the safety of other passengers on the roads, the model has a rear-view camera, blind spot warning (BSW), front, rear and side parking sensors and hands-free parking assist system (Easy Park Assist). All driving aids are accessible via the R-Link 2 tablet, it stated. – TradeArabia News Service
