British champions gear up for Dubai race
Dubai, September 10, 2011
Multi-British touring car champions Triple Eight Race Engineering are set to enter two of their S2000 turbo-powered Vauxhall Vectras in January’s Dunlop 24H Dubai.
Regular Triple Eight driver, rising star James Nash drove in the 24 hour race for the first time earlier this year for the WRC Developments team qualifying their Honda Integra on class pole position and recording fastest lap of the race.
Nash, 25, is likely to fill one of the seats, said a statement from Triple Eight Race.
Nash, currently a challenger for BTCC title said "I really enjoyed my debut in Dunlop 24 hours of Dubai earlier this year. Unfortunately, the team I drove for didn’t have luck with the car, but when it ran free of problems we had the quickest car in our class out there."
"This time around we’ll be stepping up a gear. The car has been built to a more recent set of regulations and also runs the latest turbo engine," he added.
Triple Eight Race Engineering is headed by chairman and team principal Ian Harrison who in a motorsports career spanning over 30 years has overseen teams win titles in Formula One, World Sportscars and of course Touring Cars.
He has worked too with some of the sports legendary figures including Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mercedes’s Ross Brawn and Williams F1 boss Sir Frank Williams.-TradeArabia News Service
